"Quick Look" – A patient may NOT refuse treatment if:

  4. LESS RESTRICTIVE METHODS of RESTRAINT attempted.
  5. ASSISTANCE of LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS with restraint,
and/or ORDERS from MEDICAL CONTROL to restrain,
and/or ADHERENCE to SERVICE RESTRAINT PROTOCOLS.
  6. That the Tx and RESTRAINT was for the PT's BENEFIT and SAFETY.
  7. That REASONS for RESTRAINT were EXPLAINED to the PT.

  10. Any INJURIES THAT OCCURRED DURING or AFTER RESTRAINT.
  11. CIRCULATION CHECKS every 15 (or fewer) MINUTES.
  12. BEHAVIOR and/or MENTAL STATUS of PT AFTER RESTRAINT.
(Document at LEAST 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 for EVERY Use of Restraint)

  1. Print ONLY Page ONE
    of this Web Site "Page."
  2. HIGHLIGHT the numbers
    2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
  3. Take it to a Copier (Kinkos) &have it
    REDUCED IN SIZE.
  4. CUT OUT the two lists of Restraint Criteria.
  5. LAMINATE IT!
  6. And, then put it somewhere that will be
HANDY for your on-scene and post-scene reference!

I suggest that folkz attach one of these cards to EVERY "Jump" kit
("Ready-Up" kit ... the kit that goes on EVERY CALL).
That way, everyone on the service will have a card available to them.
